KELSEY’S MORNING SKINCARE

Remember the acronym they taught you in elementary school, K.I.S.S (keep it simple, stupid). I often have to remind myself of this. We are over-saturated with skincare products and every time I step foot into a beauty department, I’m overwhelmed with the glitzy signs promising moisturized, wrinkle free, glass like, non-pigmented, baby soft skin overnight. Truth be told, there’s absolutely no product out there that will deliver all of those results overnight. If there were, we’d all be using it! From Neutrogena to La Mer, I’ve tried it all, but only very few make it into my morning routine.

  1. Since I have a pretty strict skincare routine at night, I like to start off with a very simple cleanser. I’ve tried different cleansers and a lot of them can be too harsh and drying on my skin. This one here is free of parabens, sulfates, fragrances, dyes, lanolin, etc. The best part is that it’s less than $10 and can be found at your local drugstore.

2. This is where I should probably use a vitamin c serum, but every serum tend to clog my pores. If you have any recommendations please send them my way! For now, I am using the Tata Harper Resurfacing Serum to give my skin a nice glow.

3. Since there’s still a bit of moisture in the air in the Fall I don’t need to use a heavy moisturizer, so I stick to Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer. In the Winter I will switch over to the Ultra Facial Cream. My skin is sensitive but also a combination of oily and dry, sometimes dehydrated. It’s a disaster of a mix to have. This moisturizer gives me enough moisture throughout the day without leaving my greasy and congested. Once Winter hits my skin will need something a bit more nourishing, but this does the trick for now and is fairly inexpensive for such a great quality product. I use this moisturizer every day and it’s lasted me over a year now.

4. Last but not least, I apply this Elta MD SPF 46 Sunscreen. Just because you have a moisturizer that has SPF in it already does not mean that you’re getting the best protection possible. Yes, you need sun protection on gloomy and rainy days. This also works as a great base before your makeup. You’re probably thinking, “I can’t even stand to think about how oily my skin would be by layering a moisturizer AND a SPF.” Think again. It’s made to be layered over your normal skincare routine and under your makeup. The best part? It’s made specifically for sensitive, acne and roseaca prone skin. This came in a Dermstore kit and it’s not only the one thing I reach for on the daily, but I’ve gotten Jen hooked on it. She then has spread the word to some of her office gals and needless to say, I need to buy stock in Elta MD. This is my ride or die SPF.

And that’s it for my mourning routine! I try and keep it simple! What are you daily go-to’s in the am?
